The PHN Program Performance and Quality Framework includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health as a priority for focused work and requires PHNs to:
Address needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in their region:
- Ensure commissioned providers offer culturally appropriate services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can access primary health care services as required
- Ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with chronic conditions receive coordinated care
- Contribute to closing the gap in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s health outcomes
- Contribute to improved emotional, social and physical wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
